The UK has a thriving online legal community sharing knowledge, networking events and development opportunities across numerous social media platforms. Here are some the committee members of Birmingham Solicitors’ Group favourite accounts:
- Baljinder Singh Atwal, our very own Co-Chair of the Birmingham Solicitors’ Group and Council Member of the National Law Society representing junior lawyers (0-6 years PQE) nationally.
Bal is an in-house solicitor with the West Midlands Police and has a keen interest in helping to develop junior lawyers both regionally and nationally.
- Oluwatobi Akinwande is part of the committee, being one of our new PR Officers for the Birmingham Solicitors’ Group.
Tobi is a Solicitor at Duncan Lewis Solicitors and produces excellent content about her career journey.
- Alice Jeavons is also part of the committee, being one of our first ever Junior Representatives in the Birmingham Solicitors’ Group.
Alice is a Paralegal at Irwin Mitchell LLP and combines her love of baking with the law.

Emma is based in Stoke and shares the reality of in-house law.
- Simranjeet Kaur Mann, Junior Associate at Founders Law.

Jennifer is extremely active on LinkedIn, sharing her experiences as a lawyer with a particular focus on helping juniors.

Chrissie is a multi award-winning solicitor, entrepreneur, careers coach and business consultant. She is the founder of Law and Broader, a self-employed freelance consultant to legal businesses and a social media influencer with a following in excess of 80,000. Chrissie is also a previous Chair of the Birmingham Solicitors’ Group!

Well, we have to toot our own horn don’t we?! The Birmingham Solicitors Group represents the junior lawyers in Birmingham/West Midlands and offers a full range of social and professional opportunities to further enhance and develop skills for junior lawyers, from students up to 6 years post qualification. We have free membership and the vast majority of our events are free.

Representing the Birmingham (and surrounding region) legal community, the Birmingham Law Society are the largest regional Law Society in the United Kingdom with over 4500 members which includes solicitors (from large national practices through to medium and small firms), barristers, legal executives, trainee solicitors, paralegals and law students.
- Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society
The BTSS is an organisation made up of over 300 trainee solicitors, paralegals, newly qualified solicitors and post-graduate law students from across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

The national professional membership body representing solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession’s regulators, government and others, to offering training and advice, they’re here to help, protect and promote solicitors across England and Wales.
- The Junior Solicitors Network
The Junior Solicitors Network was previously known as the Junior Law Society Division.
The Junior Solicitors Network represents and support junior lawyers in the legal profession and has many useful resources and guidance to support career and personal development, working practices and wellbeing.
